Filler - Aftercare
Following your dermal filler treatment, it is essential that you follow the aftercare instructions carefully. Failure to do so may increase the risk of complications and may affect your final results.
First 24 Hours After Treatment
-
Do not touch, press, massage, or manipulate the treated area.
-
Do not apply makeup for a minimum of 12 hours.
-
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours, as it can increase the risk of bruising.
-
Avoid strenuous exercise or activities that increase blood flow to the face.
-
Avoid excessive facial movements where possible.
-
Sleep with your head elevated on the first night (use an extra pillow).
-
Avoid sleeping directly on the treated area.
First 24–48 Hours
-
Avoid heat exposure including:
-
Saunas
-
Steam rooms
-
Hot baths or showers
-
Sunbeds
-
Prolonged sun exposure
Heat can increase swelling and may impact how the filler settles.
-
Avoid excessive salt intake, which may worsen swelling.
First 2 Weeks
-
Do not massage or manipulate the treated area unless specifically instructed by your practitioner.
-
Avoid facials, chemical peels, microneedling, laser treatments, or further aesthetic procedures.
-
Avoid dental work where possible for 2 weeks (if treatment was in the lower face).
-
This allows the filler to properly integrate into the tissue.
How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?
Dermal fillers are temporary and results vary between individuals.
Typically, results last 6–18 months, depending on:
-
Area treated
-
Type of filler used
-
Age
-
Lifestyle
-
Metabolism
-
Skin condition
-
Overall health

Areas with more movement (such as lips) may break down filler more quickly than less mobile areas.
First-Time Treatments
If this is your first dermal filler treatment, your body may metabolise the product slightly faster. This is completely normal.
With regular maintenance treatments, results may last longer over time as the product gradually integrates within the tissue and builds subtle structural support.
